Soap, Fat, and Scars
Soap symbolizes the cleansing of the life, in the sense that it will clean them of their past which is considered bad by Tyler.
Fat symbolizes the excess of everything that the rich have. Tyler says that they use the fat of rich women to make soap which they then sell bake to these rich people. It also symbolizes how the rich are blind to all the things they buy, since they are basically buying something they pay top get rid of.
Scars symbolize a lot more in the lives of these people. To have scars means that you have done something in your life and that has shown itself as a scar. If someone does not have a scar, they believe that individual has not done anything worth while. They want scars to prove to others that they do not live a meaningless life and that have have indeed done something worthwhile. They show these scars off with pride.

Robert used to be a male that had been feminized due to the over usage of steroids but was later remembered as a martyr of Project Mayhem. He represented the change that Tyler hoped to create amongst the male population of his society.

The house in which Tyler and the narrator live in is on a street ironically named Paper Street. A paper street is a road that is on paper but does not actually exist. The fact that the house they live in is on a street named Paper Street, and that the owner Tyler is also not real, both symbolize the frail mental state that these individuals are in.
IKEA
IKEA is often brought up by the narrator and it symbolizes materialism. People buy things to feel good about themselves. When the narrators building is blown up, all his furniture is lost which symbolizes the change the Tyler hopes to bring forth.
